Yes, this is true. Even though she is only 15, we let her go to this big event....why? Because they don't go in dates! What a great relief! This was like a glorious, dress up dance, which she CAN attend at age 15, with parents consent, as as it was held in the Ritz-Carlton, 5 minutes from our home, we could pick her up promptly at midnight. Many of her girlfriends gathered to go together, sin chicos!
She had Basketball in the afternoon on Friday, and came home, jumped in the shower and then did a great job curling her own hair with lots of soft curls all around. It was great. She wore her same black, dressy outfit that she had from a quincennera which she has been getting lots of mileage with for many occasions. She had to pay for her own ticket, of course, without a boy date, but we didn't mind. Also, she was helping the effort to support the dance, as they were considering cancelling it for next year, if they didn't get a good enough response. We took her to the main lobby of the Ritz, where she met up with 4 of her other friends, and they walked across the street to the Blue Danubio Restaurant, they we enjoy. They ate and then came back to wait for the traditionally late arrivals of the rest of the students. She had a blast, dancing and being with her friends. Mike went back at 12:00am to get her, and she seemed like she was so happy, and not too disappointed that we picked her up early, since the rest went on for hours... "Our little girl is growing up!" That was our common saying in our family, and it is still true! She had fun and we are STILL glad she could go single, and not with boys yet!
